Baggage Service

We all need to take our stuff, but – let’s be honest – bags can be the most cumbersome part of travelling, especially if you’re travelling in a large group or with children. With this in mind, we offer a range of services to make things easier for you.

If you’re departing, you’ll find porters by the terminal entrance. If you’re arriving, you’ll find them by the baggage reclaim carousels. They will help with your luggage – please pay the fixed cost of AED25 directly to the porter. For a family-sized trolley the cost is AED70.

Free of charge, trolleys are provided at convenient locations across the airport.

Baggage wrapping

Available at the check-in areas of Terminal 1 and 3. It’s a good idea to weight your bags before you have them wrapped, thus avoiding unnecessary delays at the check-in counter. The price is:

AED 25 per item at Terminal 1, 2 and DWC

AED 30 per item at Terminal 3

Short-term storage

We’d be happy to look after your bags. Terminals 1 and 3 both offer this service, and it’s open 24/7. Sorry, but it’s not available at Terminal 2. Please look on our maps to find this service. Cost: AED40 for 12 hours or less for standard size luggage;

AED50 for 12 hours or less for non-standard size luggage.

Baggage delivery service

Emirates Airlines offers to deliver its passengers’ bags within the UAE. To book, please visit the baggage counter in the Arrivals hall of Terminal 3, near exit 1. Up to four bags costs AED 200 or AED250 depending where in the UAE your bags are going. Each additional bag is AED10.

Baggage Regulations

Packing correctly can save you time (and money) at the airport. Here are the basic rules to follow, plus some further tips.

New baggage Regulations

New baggage rules have been introduced to help improve baggage services for all passengers at DXB. Bags must have at least one flat surface.

Please do not carry liquids over100mlin your hand luggage. Also:
  • Place containers in a clear, resealable plastic bag.
  • Put the resealable bag in your hand luggage.

Generally two pieces of baggage are allowed for international travel, with the total weight not exceeding 32kg. However this may vary by airline and fare type. Check with your airline before you fly.

Baggage larger than 90cm long, 75cm high and 60cm wide, or that does not have a single flat surface, will need to be checked in at the oversized baggage counter. Please allow extra time to check-in oversize baggage.

Excess baggage must be repacked. Excess baggage fees typically apply. New baggage rules have been introduced to help improve baggage services for all passengers at DXB. Bags must have at least one flat surface

Given recent changes to policy, in cases of highly suspicious packed goods, the General Department of Airport Security (GDAS) now has the authority to open bags in order to identify and remove these items without the passenger present and that any associated damage is not the liability of GDAS.

General tips

Pack personal belongings in your hand luggage.

Keep a laptop where it can be easily reached: you’ll need to place it in a separate security tray at the security scan.

Always remove old baggage tags. They may cause the baggage system to reject the bag they’re attached to.

Avoid using cardboard boxes. They need to be processed manually, which takes longer. And they’re not as durable.

Don’t forget travel insurance.
